I have been trying to start DOORS in Batch mode. Till some days back, there was no Problem with it. But, recently, it stopped opening in the Batch mode.
When I try to open it in the GUI mode, either by clicking on the Icon or using a command, it opens up without any issue. But, when I try using the command line to open it in Batch mode, it does not.
P.S: I have noticed in the Task Manager that DOORS starts running in the Background till it uses approximately 40K Memory. After that, it just kills itself. AddKluZiv - Wed May 11 09:16:43 EDT 2016 |
Re: DOORS isn't getting started in batch mode A good place to start is investigate what it has change on your DXL scripts since the problem started. Quite possibly there is a DXL error somewhere that does not allow DOORS to start in batch mode. |

The code works perfectly when I execute it using the DXL Editor in the DOORS GUI. Still, DOORS does not open in Batch mode. |

Still, DOORS does not open in Batch mode. The bath mode and the GUI mode are not the same, something that runs in GUI mode it might fail in batch mode or not run correctly.
So for example in batch mode you cannot use views to do operations, so if you define a view it will not load and your code will fail.
Batch mode is executed with the command parameter -b and you need to pass user and password to login if the database has been setup that way.
You do not have to run in batch mode check without the -b parameter if your dxl code executes by using the -D parameter.
Write a simple program that writes something to a file and then executed in batch mode. No prints or displays or dialog boxes as they will not work in batch mode. |

I know not what to do now. Arghh... it was working until a few days back. I think I should reinstall the Client and check once more. |

Re: DOORS isn't getting started in batch mode Costas..Aravidis - Thu May 12 08:59:44 EDT 2016 Did you try to create a simple script by writing in a text file? AS A BATCH FILE:
Yes,I did that. I simply wrote i=2 in the file and tried executing it as a Batch Job. The Problem with DOORS is that it loads for about 40K Memory (as per the Task Manager) and then shuts down without warning or error. I come to know about all of these by looking at the Task Manager statistics.
GUI-BASED APPROACH
Command: doors.exe -dxl #include D:\AddExtractor\Scripts\sad.dxl i=2; Execution of this file using this command results in an: Invalid Token ()
P.S.: I have already reinstalled DOORS and checked. No improvement. |
Re: DOORS isn't getting started in batch mode Try this... Create a dxl file in your C:\Temp directory called writetest.dxl
pragma runLim, 0; string filename = "C:\\Temp\\test.txt" Stream writeout = write filename writeout << "Hello World" close writeout Then execute the file from the bin directory where the doors executable is: "doors -d<your data serve> -b "C:/Temp/writetest.dxl" -u <your username> -P <yourpassword> You should get a text file in your C:\Temp directory |

I've finally found out that there is something wrong with my script or the Batch file that I've made. I'm checking it currently. I tried opening another script as a Batch file, simply to print Hello, and it worked. |
Re: DOORS isn't getting started in batch mode AddKluZiv - Thu May 12 09:54:59 EDT 2016 OK. I've finally found out that there is something wrong with my script or the Batch file that I've made. I'm checking it currently. I tried opening another script as a Batch file, simply to print Hello, and it worked. Batch Files still work correctly in DOORS. The Problem seemed to have lied on my script. A simple print Statement proved it and now I can use Batch script once again. Thank you Costas for your valuable suggestions. |
